E.S.H.P.G. Education, Scholarship and Historic Preservation

The E.S.H.P.G. was formed in 1993, when members of the Woman's Club of Warren saw the need for a group which could foster the interests of the membership in:

  • Education for the Warren community.
  • Scholarships for students of the Warren area.
  • Preservation of buildings of historic importance within the community.

E.S.H.P.G. received provisional approval from the Internal Revenue service in July, 1993.  The Woman's Club charter prevents the club from receiving tax-deductible gifts.  However, any gifts given to E.S.H.P.G. are tax-deductable.  Contributors to the E.S.H.P.G. have the right to designate which of our missions they wish their contribution to support.

The E.S.H.P.G. mission has three primary  aspects:

  1. The organization will distribute scholarships to Warren area students.  Potential recipients are reviewed by a selection committee comprised of members of the organization and members of the community.  Funds go directly to the institution in which the recipient is enrolled.
  2. The group will maintain a forum and hire noted musicians and speakers for non-political presentations in the Warren area, with the programs to be presented to the public with little or no admission fee.
  3. The group will help to maintain buildings which have been declared state or national "Historic Landmarks" by entry on the Historic Landmark Register.  Funds are paid directly to contractors completing work on the landmark buildings.  Donations may be designated for preservation of a particular Historic Landmark.

A board of directors, all volunteers, oversees the activities of the E.S.H.P.G.  It meets several times a year to conduct business, plan activities and develop programs for the future.

Membership and donations are solicited through personal contact and letters.  We do not use paid staff.

Our ability to carry out any part of our mission is directly dependent upon contributions we receive from members and friends. Our Charter prevents us from conducting any fundraising.  Gifts are tax-deductible.  For more information, contact the Woman's Club of Warren, 310 Market St., Warren PA 16365.   Phone:  (814) 723-5910.

               Donations to the

         Woman's Club of   Warren

Tax deductible donations may be made to the Woman’s Club of Warren through our Education, Scholarship and Historic Preservation Group  (ESHPG). These donations may be designated for a specific category: Scholarship, Education or the Historic Preservation of Historic Landmark buildings.  Within each of these areas of interest, the Woman’s Club strives to actively contribute to our Warren community.

Of special interest to us, is our own clubhouse at 310 Market Street.  It is the former Waters Mansion which has been designated a National Historic Landmark; the club’s mission is to preserve the building by keeping it well maintained.  It is our hope that the home will be an integral part of the Warren community for generations to come.

Donations towards any of these three endeavors make our goals possible and they are very much appreciated.        For additional information, click on the ESHPG page or contact any of our board members listed under the Board & Officers page.
